Steering: Service and Repair
CAUTION:^ If the system has been serviced, and accurate fluid level reading cannot be obtained unless air is bled from the system. The air in the fluid may cause pump cavitation noise and may cause pump damage over a period of time.
^ When adding fluid or making a complete fluid change, always use the proper fluid. Failure to use the proper fluid will cause hose and seal damage and fluid leaks.
GENERAL PROCEDURE
The remote power steering fluid reservoir is located at the left front corner of the engine compartment.
1. Remove the reservoir cap and check fluid level on the cap fluid level indicator (dipstick).
2. If the fluid does not reach the "MAX" mark on the indicator, add power steering gear and pump fluid Dexron III(R), or equivalent.
