Vehicle Speed Sensor (Speedometer)

The Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) (Speedometer) consists of an open/closed switch and it is mounted on the speedometer assembly. When the speedometer shafts rotates by means of the speedometer cable, the VSS (Speedometer) internal switch opens and closes four times per revolution. This action grounds the circuit to the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). This signal is converted to vehicle speed by the PCM.
