Horn Switch: Testing and Inspection
Horn Switch Test1. Remove the steering column covers.
2. Disconnect the dashboard wire harness B 6P connector (A) from the cable reel (B).
3. Using a jumper wire, connect the dashboard wire harness B 6P connector (A) No. 6 terminal to body ground.
- If the horns sound, go to step 4.
- If the horns don't sound, check these items:
- Horn relay
- No. 47 (20 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box
- Horns.
- An open in the wire
4. Remove the driver's airbag assembly.
5. Reconnect the dashboard wire harness B 6P connector (A), and disconnect the horn switch positive 1P connector (B).
6. Using a jumper wire, connect the horn switch positive 1P connector to body ground.
- If the horns sound, go to step 7.
- If the horns don't sound, replace the cable reel.
7. Reconnect the horns switch positive 1P connector.
8. Using a jumper wire, connect the steering wheel nut to body ground.
9. Close the contacts between the horn plate and the contact plate.
- If the horns sound, replace the steering column.
- If the horns don't sound, replace the contact plate.
