Safety Improvement Campaign: Pilot SRS Unit

(Supersedes 03-066, dated November 29, 2006, to revise the information marked by the black bars and asterisks)

*REVISION SUMMARY

Under WARRANTY INFORMATION, the flat rate time for replacing the SRS unit was updated after the operation was reviewed and validated.*

BACKGROUND

The 2003 Pilot received a top crash-test rating of five stars in front- and side-impact crash testing conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). However, in a test condition different than NHTSA's, deployment of the front airbags occurred later than normal. Honda is conducting a safety improvement campaign to enhance the deployment of the front airbags by replacing the SRS unit.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Replace the SRS unit.

Also, check for any other open campaigns (timing belt tensioner product update, water pump safety recall), and complete them at the same time. To check for open campaigns on a vehicle, use the iN VIN status inquiry or check your campaign responsibility reports.
