Horn Switch: Testing and Inspection
Horn Switch Test1. Remove the steering column covers.
2. Disconnect the dashboard wire harness B 6P connector (A) from the cable reel (B).
3. Using a jumper wire, connect the dashboard wire harness B 6P connector (A) No. 6 terminal to body ground. The horns should sound.
- If the horns sound, go to step 4.
- If the horns don't sound, check the horn relay circuit.
4. Check for continuity between the No. 6 terminal of the cable reel side 6P connector and body ground with the horn switch pressed.
- If there is continuity, the switch is OK.
- If there is no continuity, go to step 6.
5. Remove the driver's airbag assembly.
6. Check for continuity between the cable reel No. 6 terminal (A) and the horn switch positive terminal (B).
- If there is no continuity, check for continuity of the radio remote switch harness. If the harness is OK, replace the cable reel and check for proper operation.
- If there is continuity, go to step 7.
7. Check for continuity between the center of the steering column and ground.
- If there is continuity, replace the airbag.
- If there is no continuity, replace the steering column.
