Clicking Noise From Right Side of the Cargo Area
SYMPTOM
A clicking noise can be heard from the right side of the cargo area when driving over bumps.
PROBABLE CAUSE
The right rear damper valve is opening and closing during normal suspension movement.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the right rear damper with one that has a quieter valve.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Remove the right rear damper. Refer to page 18-32 of the 2003-04 Pilot Service Manual.
2. Install a new damper assembly. Tighten the flange bolt and nut only finger-tight.
3. Lower the vehicle to the ground. Tighten the bolt and nut to 64 Nm (47 lb-ft).
NOTE:
Do not tighten the damper mounts while the vehicle is on the lift. Tightening the mounts while the vehicle is raised would cause a harsher ride and cause the damper to wear out faster.
4. Return the vehicle to the customer. Aligning the wheels is not necessary for this repair.
