Product Update: Left Rear Driveshaft
(Supersedes 05-039, dated September 26, 2005)
Updated information is shown with asterisks and black bars.
BACKGROUND
The left rear driveshaft on a small number of 2005 Pilots is too long. This causes the left rear wheel to bind, and it may cause excessive wear on the rear drivetrain components.
VEHICLES AFFECTED
* Approximately 130 vehicles were affected. Most customers were notified by telephone, and nearly all the vehicles have been repaired. Before ordering parts or beginning work on a vehicle, verify its eligibility by checking at least one of these items:*
^ The vehicle is shown on your campaign responsibility report.
^ The vehicle is shown as eligible on a VIN status inquiry.
^ In addition to the VIN status inquiry, check for a punch mark above the first character of the engine compartment VIN. A punch mark in that location means this product update has already been completed.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the left rear driveshaft.
