Ignition Timing Adjustment
1. Warm up engine.
2. Remove rubber cap from inspection window of cylinder block and, while engine idles, point timing light toward flywheel or drive plate.
3. Set timing according to the table below or by the under-hood label.
4. Loosen distributor adjusting bolt, and turn distributor housing counterclockwise to retard timing or clockwise to advance timing.
5. Tighten adjusting bolt.
6. Recheck the timing.
7. Reinstall the rubber cap on the inspection window.

Manual Transmission:
CALIFORNIA: 10-14° BTDC (Red mark) at 700-800 rpm in neutral
49 STATE & HIGH ALTITUDE: 14-18° BTDC (White mark) at 700-800 rpm in neutral
Automatic Transmission:
ALL: 14-18° BTDC (Red mark) at 700-800 rpm in gear
