Housing Puller Modification
The purpose of this modification is to adapt the housing puller (T/N 07GAC-PG40100) to fit the '88 Prelude automatic transmission housing.
1. Cut out the 40 mm hole along the dotted circle in the template.
2. Using an 8 mm hole punch, punch out the holes numbered 2, 4, 9, and 10 as marked on the template. These holes will be used to reference the template to the housing puller.
3. Cut out the template along the dotted line and place it onto the housing puller. Align the four holes punched out in step 2. Attach the template to the housing puller using four 8 x 12 mm bolts and nuts.
4. Center punch the holes numbered 1, 11, 15, 16, 17, and 18 as marked on the template.
5. Drill the holes marked 1, 11, 15, 16, 17, and 18 using an 8 mm drill. The holes numbered 1, 11, and 15 may require the use of a round file. Remove the template, chamfer the holes and remove any burrs from drilling.
6. Mark "16," "17," and "18" beside the new holes on the housing puller using a punch or engraver.
7. "X" out the last digit of the tool number on the housing puller and mark "2" above it as shown, using a punch or engraver.
8. Use the holes marked 1, 11, 15, and 18 for removing the '88 Prelude transmission housing.
NOTE:
^ If you are unable to modify your housing puller you may order a new, modified housing puller using T/N 07GAC-PG40102 or T/N 07HAC-PK40100.
^ The housing puller also can be used as a base for the dial indicator stand while performing a rear steering gearbox function inspection ('88 Prelude Service Manual page 17-95). To accommodate this, drill a 12 mm hole where indicated by the hole marked 4WS on the template.
