Torque Specifications
Cylinder Head Tightening ProceduresTighten the cylinder head bolts. Tighten the cylinder head bolts is sequence to 29 Nm (3.0 kgf-m, 22 ft. lbs.). Use a beam-type torque wrench. When using a preset type torque wrench, be sure to tighten slowly and do not overtighten. If a bolt makes any noise while you are torquing it, loosen the bolt and retighten it.
Mark the bolt head (A) and the cylinder head (B).
Tighten the cylinder head bolts until the mark on the bolt head aligns with the 2nd mark on the cylinder head (turn the bolt 180°). If you are using a new cylinder head bolt, tighten the bolt to the third mark (270°).
Intake System:
Intake Manifold
Camshaft Cap Torque
Specified torque:
8 mm bolts: 22 Nm (2.2 kgf.m, 16 ft. lbs.)
6 mm bolts: 22 Nm (2.2 kgf.m, 16 ft. lbs.)
6 mm bolts: (11), (12), (13), (14)
Crankshaft Main Bearing Torque
- Tighten the 11 mm bolts in two steps. In the first step, tighten all bolts in sequence to about 29 Nm (3.0 kgf.m, 22 ft. lbs.). in the final step, tighten in the same sequence to 78 Nm (8.0 kgf.m, 58 ft. lbs.).
- Tighten the 6 mm bolts in sequence to 12 Nm (1.2 kgf.m, 8.7 ft. lbs.).
Connecting Rod Torque
Apply engine oil to the bolt threads, then install the rod caps with bearings. Torque the bolts to 20 Nm (2.0 kgf-m, 14 ft. lbs.).
Mark the connecting rod (A) and bolt head (B).
Tighten the bolt until the mark on the bolt head lines up with the mark on the connecting rod (turn the bolt 90°).
Crankshaft Pulley Bolt
- Install the crankshaft pulley, and tighten the bolt to 245 Nm (25.0 kgf.m, 181 ft. lbs.). Do not use an impact wrench.
