DIAGNOSIS
Diagnose the type of driver's seat looseness by moving the seat to the midpoint position. The horizontal switch on the side of the seat adjusts the seat bottom. Pull up or push down on the front of the switch to move the seat bottom's front edge up or down to the midpoint position. Pull up or push down on the rear of the switch to move the seat bottom's rear edge up or down to the midpoint position.
Sit in the driver's seat, and move from side to side while resting against the seat-back.
^ If the seat moves side to side, go to REPAIR PROCEDURE.
^ If the seat moves other than side to side, continue troubleshooting.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Raise the front and rear of the driver's seat bottom to the fully vertical position, and move the seat fully forward.
2. At each side of the seat base, loosen the two rear inboard T-30 Torx bolts several turns.
3. Push on the loosened bolts to show the clearance in the linkage. Install shims on one side or both sides of the seat base linkage, as needed. Rock the seat-back from side to side to assist with the installation of the shims.
NOTE:
Use as many shims as necessary to eliminate the clearance but no more than four shims per side. Do not force the shims into place.
4. Torque the four T-30 Torx bolts to 10 N.m (7.4 lb-ft).
5. Move the seat assembly back to the midpoint position, and check for side-to-side looseness.
