DTC P1162: A/F Sensor (Sensor 1) Circuit Malfunction-CVT model

1. Reset the ECM.
2. Start the engine, and wait at least 2 minutes.

Is DTC P1162 indicated?

YES - Go to step 3.

NO - Intermittent failure, system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose wires at the A/F Sensor (Sensor 1) and at the ECM.

3. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
4. Start the engine.




5. Measure voltage between ECM connector terminals D4 and B20 and between D10 and B20.

Is there 2.5 - 3.0 V?

YES - Go to step 6.

NO - Go to step 10.

6. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
7. Disconnect the A/F Sensor 4P connector, and ECM connector D (16P).




8. Connect ECM connector terminals D4, D10, and body ground with a jumper wire.




9. Check for continuity between the A/F Sensor (Sensor 1) 4P connector terminal No.1, No.2, and body ground individually.

Is there continuity?

YES - Replace the A/F Sensor (Sensor 1).

NO - Repair open in the wire between the A/F Sensor (Sensor 1) and the ECM (D4 or D10).

10. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
11. Disconnect the A/F Sensor 4P connector and ECM connector D (16P).




12. Check for continuity between body ground and the A/F Sensor (Sensor 1) 4P connector terminals No.2 and No.1.

Is there continuity?

YES - Repair short in the wire between the A/F Sensor (Sensor 1) and the ECM (D4 or D10).

NO - Replace the A/F Sensor (Sensor 1).
