DTC P1886: Problem in CVT Driven Pulley Speed Sensor Circuit

NOTE: Record all freeze data and review General Troubleshooting Information before you troubleshoot.

1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
2. Disconnect CVT driven pulley speed sensor connector.
3. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

4. Measure the voltage between CVT driven pulley speed sensor connector terminal No. 1 and body ground.
Is there about 5 V?
YES-Go to step 5.
NO-Go to step 11.
5. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

6. Check for continuity between CVT driven pulley speed sensor connector terminal No. 2 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES-Repair short to ground in the wire between TCM connector terminal B9 and the CVT driven pulley speed sensor.
NO-Go to step 7.

7. Check for continuity between CVT driven pulley speed sensor connector terminal No. 3 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES-Go to step 8.
NO-Repair loose terminal or open in the wire between TCM connector terminal Be and the CVT driven pulley speed sensor.
8. Turn the ignition switch ON (II).

9. Measure the voltage between CVT driven pulley speed sensor connector terminals No. 2 and No. 3.
Is there about 5 V?
YES-Go to step 15.
NO-Go to step 10.

10. Measure the voltage between TCM connector terminals Be and B9.
Is there about 5 V?
YES-Repair open in the wire between TCM connector terminal Be and the CVT driven pulley speed sensor.
NO-Check for loose terminal fit in the TCM connectors. If necessary, substitute a known-good TCM and recheck..

11. Measure the voltage between TCM connector terminals Be and B21.
Is there 4.75 - 5.25 V?
YES-Repair open in the wire between TCM connector terminal B21 and the CVT driven pulley speed sensor.
NO-Go to step 12.
12. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
13. Disconnect TCM connector B (22P).

14. Check for continuity between TCM connector terminal B21 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES-Repair short to ground in the wire between TCM connector terminal B21 and the CVT driven pulley speed sensor.
NO-Check for loose terminal fit in the TCM connectors. If necessary, substitute a known-good TCM and recheck.
15. Connect CVT driven pulley speed sensor connector.

16. Measure the voltage between TCM connector terminals B8 and B9.
Is there about 0 V or 5 V?
YES-Go to step 17.
NO-Replace the CVT driven pulley speed sensor.
17. Set the parking brake, and block both rear wheels securely.
18. Raise the front of the vehicle, and make sure it is securely supported.
19. Start the engine, then shift to the HI position and drive the vehicle at engine idling.

20. Measure the voltage between TCM connector terminals B8 and B9.
Is there 1.5 - 3.5 V?
YES-Check for loose-terminal fit in the TCM connectors. If necessary, substitute a known-good TCM and rechecks
NO-Replace the CVT driven pulley speed sensor.
