Water Pump: Testing and Inspection

Inspection





1. Loosen the idler pulley center nut (A). Turn the adjusting bolt (B) clockwise (counterclockwise for models without A/C compressor), then remove the water pump-A/C compressor belt or water pump belt (C).





2. Turn the water pump pulley clockwise. Check that it turns freely.
3. Check for signs of seal leakage. A small amount of "weeping" from the bleed hole (A) is normal.
