Charging System Indicator Does Not Come on

1. Turn the ignition switch ON (II), and watch the charging system light.
Does the charging system indicator came on and stay on?

NO - Go to step 2.

2. Watch the IMA system indicator.
Are any DTCs indicated?

YES - Go to DTCs Troubleshooting Index.
NO - Go to step 3.

3. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
4. Check the 12 V battery.
Is there about 12 V?

YES - Go to step 5.
NO - Charge or replace the 12 V battery.

5. Turn the battery module switch OFF.
6. Remove the IPU lid.
7. Disconnect the DC-DC converter 8P connector.





8. Check for continuity between the DC-DC converter 8P connector terminal No.2 and body ground.
Is there continuity?

YES - Repair short in the wire between the DC-DC converter and gauge assembly.
NO - Go to step 9.





9. Check for continuity between the DC-DC converter 8P connector terminal No.6 and body ground.
Is there continuity?

YES - Go to step 10.
NO - Go to step 12.

10. Disconnect MCM connector A (32P).





11. Check for continuity between the DC-DC converter 8P connector terminal No.6 and body ground.
Is there continuity?

YES - Repair open in the wire between the DC-DC converter and the MCM (A27).
NO - Substitute a known-good MCM and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original MCM.

12. Turn the battery module switch ON.
13. Measure voltage between the two junction board high voltage terminals.
Is there approx. 200 V or higher?

YES - Replace the battery module.
NO - Replace the DC-DC converter.
