Product Update Campaign: S2000 Spark Plugs
BACKGROUND
Faulty spark plug gaskets can cause the spark plugs to loosen. A loose spark plug can cause the engine to misfire and the MIL to come on.
CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION
All owners of affected vehicles will be sent a notification of this product update. An example of the customer notification is at the end of this service bulletin.
If any affected vehicles are in your new or used vehicle inventory, repair them as described in this service bulletin.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
Replace the spark plugs. Then, using the correction labels included in the spark plug kit, update the spark plug information in your customer's S2000 Owner's Manual. You should also update your 2000-02 S2000 Service Manual.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Remove the ignition coil cover.
2. Remove the ignition coils.
3. Remove the spark plugs.
4. Install the new spark plugs, and torque them to 25 N.m (15 lb-ft).
5. Install the ignition coils, and torque the coil mounting bolts to 12 N.m (5.7 lb-ft).
6. Install the ignition coil cover, and torque the cover bolts to 12 N.m (5.7 lb-ft).
NOTE:
Step 7 has you or your service advisor updating your customer's S2000 Owner's Manual with the correction labels in the spark plug kit. If you don't have access to the owner's manual, attach the correction label sheet to the repair order, and have your service advisor tell the customer what the labels are for.
7. Peel off the appropriate correction labels, and stick them on the S2000 Owner's Manual pages as shown.
8. If not already done, update your 2000-02 S2000 Service Manual, page 4-19, like this:
9. Center-punch a completion mark above the sixth character of the engine compartment VIN.
