Rear Wiper Cover MOD./Rear Hatch Strut Repl./Floor MAT Improv.

SERVICE PROCEDURE: REAR WIPER COVER MODIFICATION





The rear wiper cover prevents the rear wiper from folding outward to allow access for snow removal, rear glass cleaning or wiper blade replacement.





1. Remove cover by spreading the cover on the top and bottom.





2. Remove the tab using pliers to flex the tab forward and backwards.

WARNING:
Use caution to prevent damage to the cover.

3. Trim any excess flash.





4. Reinstall the rear wiper cover and confirm proper operation of the wiper arm.

NOTE:
No parts replacement required.

NOTE:
Do not submit a separate warranty claim for this procedure.

SERVICE PROCEDURE: REAR HATCH STRUT REPLACEMENT

The force required to close the rear hatch may be excessive. Replacing the 2 rear hatch struts will reduce the closing force.





1. Open rear hatch and support it securely.

WARNING:
The rear hatch will close when you remove one or both of the rear hatch struts.

WARNING:
Place protective material between the support and the rear hatch trim to prevent damage.





2. Insert a thin screwdriver into the retaining clip on the strut ball joint. Repeat on the opposite end of the strut body.

3. Install the replacement strut in the same orientation as the old part.

4. Repeat on the other side.

5. Close and open the rear hatch to confirm proper operation.

NOTE:
Scrap the old struts.

NOTE:
Do not submit a separate warranty claim for this procedure.

SERVICE PROCEDURE: FLOORMAT ANCHOR IMPROVEMENT

1. Remove Driver's floormat.





2. Mark the floor mat 1-1/2" from the left edge and 1" from the bottom edge.





3. Using a hammer and a 9/16" or 14 mm socket punch a hole through the top side of the floor mat. Trim any excess fabric.





4. Squeeze the upper and lower floor mat grommet halves together in the hole.





5. Place the mat in the vehicle aligned with the production floor anchor. Mark the carpet with a marker.





6. Remove the floormat. Place the new floor anchor over the mark and twist clockwise until the anchor is securely fixed to the carpet.

7. Re-install the floormat and confirm that the mat fits properly and is secure.





8. Secure the floormat with the supplied plastic screw.
