PDI Confirmation Inspection/Build Quality Inspection
SERVICE PROCEDURE: PDI CONFIRMATION INSPECTIONNOTE:
This inspection procedure will identify conditions that would usually be identified during the PDI and repaired under normal warranty procedures.
1. Inspect the exterior of the vehicle for excessive dirt, or undercoating. All dirt and undercoating should be cleaned from the vehicle during the PDI.
Areas of attention: All areas below the line as shown in the photo.
2. Inspect the interior of the vehicle for excessive dirt. Clean all dirt from all interior surfaces during the PDI.
SERVICE PROCEDURE: BUILD QUALITY INSPECTION
1. Inspect the rear bumper below the gusset plate for paint damage or poor fit to body.
NOTE:
If the bumper is overflush by more than 3 mm use the repair procedure below, excluding steps
NOTE:
If paint damage is visible use the following procedure.
NOTE:
If repairs are performed, file a claim under normal warranty procedures.
Repair procedure - Rear bumper overflush
a. Remove the phillips head screw under the rear hatch guide.
b. Remove the rear hatch guide.
NOTE:
If no touch up paint is required proceed to step "f".
c. Place a shop towel between the body and the rear bumper to allow adequate space for paint touch-up.
d. Apply touch up paint and clear coat.
WARNING:
Allow time for paint and clear coat to dry.
e. Remove shop towel
f. Adjust bumper to gusset flush condition. Using rubber mallet, gently tap on the edge of the gusset to move it rearward or forward to adjust the gap.
NOTE:
Sealer can be broken between the gusset and the body. If this happens you must touch up with body color.
g. Tighten gusset mounting bolt. Check to make sure that bumper and gusset are flush, re-tighten the mounting bolt.
h. Install rear hatch guide. Align rear hatch guide over mounting holes and tightening.
NOTE:
Confirm that the rear hatch guide is in the proper orientation.
2. Inspect front bumper near the headlight for paint blemishes.
NOTE:
If paint damage is visible use the following procedure.
NOTE:
If repairs are performed, file a claim under normal warranty procedures.
a. Open the hood and find six retainers and two bolts.
b. Release all retainers and bolts.
C. Pull the bumper to obtain adequate space for paint touch-up.
d. Apply touch up paint and clear coat.
WARNING:
Allow time for paint and clear coat to dry.
e. Reinstall bumper making sure to push the bumper toward the engine when tightening bolts.
3. Inspect hood to bumper alignment for excessive gaps.
IMPORTANT:
Spec: 8 mm max gap, 2 mm max difference between left and right.
NOTE:
If adjustment or repair is required, use the following procedure.
NOTE:
If repairs are performed, file a claim under normal warranty procedures.
a. After loosening the hinge (A) mounting bolt, adjust the hood (B) by moving it up or down, or right or left.
b. Adjust the hood height by turning the hood overslam bumpers (C).
c. After loosening the hood latch (C) mounting bolts, adjust the latch by moving it up or down, or right or left.
WARNING:
Apply touch-up paint to any bare metal exposed due to adjustment.
4. Inspect the Tailgate Garnish for paint blemishes where it contacts the Tailgate.
NOTE:
If adjustment or repair is required, use the following procedure.
NOTE:
If repairs are performed, file a claim under normal warranty procedures.
a. Open the tailgate
b. Remove the pull strap and four screws securing the trim panel
WARNING:
Do not remove the access panels. Removing them could result in unnecessary damage.
c. Release clips from trim panel by pulling down.
d. WARNING: - Start where the side upper trim panel and main trim panel meet then proceed releasing clips around the perimeter until you reach the opposite side.
e. Remove trim panel by pushing panel in the direction of the glass (This will allow proper clearance of the rear wiper motor)
f. Remove the four nuts from inside of tailgate
g. Release three clips from inside of tailgate
NOTE:
Clips must be released from the inside. Do not attempt to pry the garnish from the outside.
NOTE:
You will need to remove the speaker from the tailgate if the vehicle is equipped with the Infinity sound system in order to access the mounting nuts and clips.
h. Unseat the wiring grommet and unclip the wire harness.
i. Remove garnish.
j. Apply touch up paint and clear coat to rear hatch.
WARNING:
Allow time for paint and clear coat to dry.
PARTS INFORMATION
k. To ensure a sufficient gap between the garnish and tailgate panel apply foam tape to outside tabs.
l. Check all clips on garnish and trim panel before installation and replace any broken clips.
m. Install garnish and trim panel in reverse order of removal procedures
n. Verify gap is present between garnish and tailgate
5. Inspect the center console for excessive gaps.
^ Adjust center console by pressing on the top of the panel. Do not replace parts.
NOTE:
If repairs are performed, file a claim under normal warranty procedures.
6. Fuse cover repair procedure, do not replace parts.
NOTE:
If adjustment or repair is required, use the following procedure.
NOTE:
If repairs are performed, file a claim under normal warranty procedures.
a. Remove fuse cover
b. Install additional plastic clips onto the existing clip towers of the fuse cover.
c. Install the fuse cover and confirm fit.
PARTS INFORMATION
7. Inspect all doors for loose fabric under the door handle.
NOTE:
If repairs are performed, file a claim under normal warranty procedures.
a. If loose fabric is visible, open the cap inside the door handle housing and remove the screw.
b. Measure the distance between the black plastic backing and the interior color cloth fabric.
NOTE:
If this measurement is greater than or equal to 5 mm replace the door panel.
NOTE:
If this measurement is less than 5 mm DO NOT replace the door panel. Use the following procedure to repair the panel.
c. Using a clear super glue gel adhere the foam and cloth to the black plastic backing.
WARNING:
Excessive application of the glue could discolor or harden the fabric.
d. Install door handle housing in reverse order of removal procedures
8. Inspect the carpet for proper assembly and permanent deformations. Focus on the center tunnel area and the foot well in the front and rear.
NOTE:
If adjustment or repair is required, use the following procedure.
NOTE:

a. Adjust/tuck carpet under center console.
NOTE:
No parts replacement required.
