FRONT IMPACT SENSOR(FIS) CODE B1327 & B1332 DIAGNOSTICS

DESCRIPTION:

This bulletin provides procedures to diagnose and repair a vehicle with an SRS Front Impact Sensor (FIS) code B1327 or B1332 stored in the SRS Control Module. These codes may be stored as "Active" or "History" codes.

PROCEDURE:

1. Confirm the "AIRBAG" light on the instrument panel is illuminated.

2. Using a Hi-Scan Pro or GDS diagnostic tool, retrieve active and history SRS Diagnostic Trouble Codes from the SRS Control Module.

3. If either B1327 or B1332 are stored as active codes, proceed to Step 1 under "ACTIVE CODE DIAGNOSTICS".

HISTORY CODE DIAGNOSTICS

1. Clear any SRS B1327 and B1332 history codes from module memory.

2. Disconnect the Hi-Scan Pro or GDS diagnostic tool.

3. Cycle the ignition system (i.e. OFF-ON).

4. Re-connect the Hi-Scan Pro or GDS diagnostic tool.

5. Retrieve any SRS codes stored in the SRS Control Module.

6. If the Airbag Warning Lamp illuminates for approximately 6 seconds and then turns off, and there are no codes stored in the SRS Control Module, then this procedure is complete.

If either B1327 or B1332 codes are stored, proceed to "ACTIVE CODE DIAGNOSTICS".

ACTIVE CODE DIAGNOSTICS:

1. Following the diagnostic procedures outlined in the 2007 Santa Fe Shop Manual, measure the voltage between terminal 16 (LH FIS - B1327) or terminal 17 (RH FIS - B1332) of the SRSCM connector and chassis ground. If it is NOT 0 V, disconnect the U/H-B connector at the underhood junction box and re-check the voltage.

2. Is the measurement 0 V?

If YES, continue to step 3.

If NO, locate and correct the short to battery on the harness between the SRSCM connector and underhood junction box connector, U/H-B.

Procedure complete.

3. Using a DVOM, check the harness connecting the FIS and the underhood junction box U/H-D connector for a short to battery and repair or replace as necessary.

a. For B1327, check pins 2 and 4 on connector U/H-D for a short to battery.

b. For B1332, check pins 31 and 34 on connector U/H-D for a short to battery.

c. If there is NO short to battery, replace the underhood junction box, P/N 91950-2B620.

4. Procedure complete.
