AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFT KNOB REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE

DESCRIPTION:
This bulletin provides a procedure to remove and replace the automatic transmission shift knob.

AFFECTED VEHICLES:
2006~ SONATA, 2006~ Azera, 2007~ Santa Fe, 2007~ Veracruz and 2009~ Genesis:

SERVICE PROCEDURE:

2006~ Azera, 2007~ Santa Fe, 2007~ Veracruz and 2009~ Genesis:

1. Engage the parking brake and put the transmission in neutral.





2. Pull up on the shift knob to disengage the snap ring (A) and remove the shift knob.

NOTE:
An upward force of 50 lbs may be required to remove the knob.

3. Push down on the shift knob to install.





NOTE:
It is not necessary to remove the decorative plastic cover (B) to access the snap ring (A). Removing this cover may damage to the shift lever.

2006~ Sonata:





1. Rotate the shift knob counterclockwise to remove the knob.

2. Rotate the shift knob clockwise to install.
