THIS TSB SUPERSEDES BULLETIN 08-FL-003-1. THE ECM UPDATE APPLICABILITY AND CALIBRATION ID TABLE HAS CHANGED. IN GDS THE FORMER ECM UPDATE EVENT NUMBERS HAVE BEEN DELETED AND THIS TSB NOW CALLS OUT LATER AVAILABLE DATA EVENTS. WARRANTY INFORMATION HAS CHANGED TO NEW OP-CODES AND OP-TIMES.

DESCRIPTION:

This bulletin provides the procedure to update the ECM software of some ENTOURAGE (EP) 3.8L and SANTA FE (CM) 3.3L vehicles which exhibit malfunction indicator lamp illumination with either of the following DTC's stored by stated models:

- P0300-P0306: Cylinder Misfire Detected

(for 06-07MY EP and 07-09MY CM 3.3L)

NOTE:
This is for a specific knock adaption related issue causing false misfire detection with the following conditions existing in Freeze Frame Data:

^ High Load > 50%

^ Normal range of fuel trim values (within +/- 10% most of the time)

^ Vehicle speed > 0 mph

- P0110: Intake Air Temperature Circuit Malfunction
(for 06-07MY EP & 07MY CM 3.3L only)

- P0128: Engine Coolant Thermostat Stuck Open
(for 06-07MY EP & 07MY CM 3.3L only)

^ 2007-2009 SANTA FE (CM) 3.3L vehicles








NOTE:
Verify the version of ECM ROM ID before attempting to update the vehicle's ECM software. Refer to the ROM ID Information Table shown above.

CAUTIONS DURING REPROGRAMMING:

1. Make sure the battery has reasonable charge. If the vehicle has been in storage for days run the engine at idle for at least 10 minutes to ensure an adequate battery charge state for reliable reprogramming results.

2. Perform reprogramming with the ignition key in the ON position.

3. Turn off all lights (Do not leave headlight switch in auto mode) and all accessories (including heater/air conditioner/blower, radio, heated seats, rear defroster, etc.) to make certain the battery will not be discharged during reprogramming.

4. Be careful not to disconnect any cables connected to the vehicle or the GDS during reprogramming.

5. Do not start the engine during reprogramming.

6. Do not turn the ignition switch OFF during reprogramming.
