Keyless System - Smart Key(R0 Reprogramming Procedure

SMART KEY REPROGRAMMING
for the 2007 Veracruz PIC System Using GDS
Veracruz with the new Personal

Identification Card (PIC) system allows users to access and operate the vehicle without the traditional key or Remote Keyless Entry (RKE).

The Smart Key can also be used as RKE or in a traditional key manner. The PIC system incorporates the functions for the RKE and immobilizer.
This recent technology currently available only on the 2007 Veracruz allows the driver to unlock the doors without using

RKE or placing a key into the door lock. A sensor on the vehicle receives a signal from the Smart Key when the Smart Key is carried within range (a few feet). The driver merely pushes a tiny button on the door handle. This can be quite helpful when the driver arms are full of cargo when attempting to unlock the doors. If the Smart Keys need to be reprogrammed, the following article outlines the procedure for doing so.

NOTE:
Only two (2) Smart Keys can be programmed to the vehicle. Once the 1st key is taught the customer's 2nd key needs to be taught at the same time or it will not start the vehicle.

Connect the GDS unit to the vehicle and select the vehicle model and PIC (Smart Key Code Saving) option from the VIN screen.

From the GDS home screen select System Options.

Select Smart Key Saving from the System Option screen.

Insert the 1st Smart Key into the ignition switch (MSL) and press OK.

NOTE:
The ignition switch does NOT have to be in the "On" position.

Enter the 6 digit PIN code obtained from the Hyundai Dealer website and press OK. You will be prompted twice, asking you if you are sure you want to continue, press OK at each prompt to continue or press Cancel to exit Smart Key Teaching.

After the 1st key teaching has been completed a screen will ask if you want to teach the 2nd key. Press OK to begin the 2nd key teaching.

NOTE:
If the customer's 2nd Smart Key is not taught at this time the vehicle can not be started when 2nd Smart Key is tried.

Insert the 2nd key when prompted and press OK.

When 2nd key teaching complete screen appears press OK.

A screen showing that the Smart Key Teaching has been completed will open (Picture A) and it will show how many Smart Keys have been taught. This information can also be found in the Current Data Screen (Picture B).

If you have difficulty reprogramming the Smart Key additional resources are available at the SPX GDS Support Line at 1-800-345-2233.
