Transmission Temperature Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair
TRANSAXLE OIL TEMPERATURE SENSORREMOVAL
1. Remove the TCU.
CAUTION: Do not touch the terminals.
2. Drain the oil by removing the overflow plug and the O-ring using a torx wrench (T40), and the drain plug (A) and the gasket by using a hexagon wrench (17 mm).
3. Disconnect the oil cooler hoses from the tubes.
4. Remove the 2 bolts to remove the oil cooler tubes (A) and the O-rings.
5. Remove the transaxle side cover and the valve body assembly. )
CAUTION: Be careful not to drop the valve body assembly.
6. After removing the wire lock plate (A), remove the wire (B) from the transaxle case.
CAUTION:
- Be careful not to damage the harness.
- Be careful not to pull the harness forcibly.
7. Remove the O-ring (B) and the gasket (C) from the wire (A).
INSTALLATION
1. After coating a new gasket (C) with ATF, install it to the wire (A).
2. Install a new O-ring (B) to the wire.
O-ring size: inner dia.-27.3 mm, thickness -2.4 mm
CAUTION: Do not coat ATF to the O-ring.
3. Install the wire (A) to the transaxle case.
CAUTION:
- Be careful not to apply too much force to the wire.
- Be careful not to damage the T/M wire.
NOTE: Install the wire to the transaxle case by engaging its claw.
4. Install a new wire lock plate (B).
5. Install the transaxle side cover and the valve body assembly.
CAUTION: Be careful not to drop the valve body assembly.
6. Coat the new O-rings with ATF, and install it to the oil cooler tubes (A). Install the oil cooler tubes with the 2 bolts.
O-ring size: inner dia.-11.6 mm, thickness-2.35 mm
TORQUE: 20-30 Nm (2.0-3.0 kgf.m, 14.5-21.7 lb-ft)
Bolt size (8): M8x1.25x20 mm
7. Connect the oil cooler hoses from the tubes.
8. Install the drain plug (A) and the gasket by using a hexagon wrench (17 mm).
Install the TCU.
TORQUE: 20-30 Nm (2.0-3.0 kgf.m, 14.5-21.7 lb-ft)
Bolt size (8): M8x1.25x20 mm
9. Refill the ATF
10. Perform N position learning.
11. Perform initial learning.
