Subject
IM TEST EGR/CVVT READINESS INFORMATION

DESCRIPTION:

This TSB provides information on an issue regarding the reporting of EGR/VVT readiness status for VERACRUZ vehicles equipped with 3.8L engines.

APPLICABILITY:
Model: 2007-2008MY VERACRUZ vehicles equipped with 3.8L engine.

CONDITION:

Some VERACRUZ vehicles may report the EGR/VVT readiness as "unsupported", while other vehicles may report this readiness as "supported."

^ Originally, all 2007-2008MY VERACRUZ vehicles reported EGR/VVT readiness as "unsupported" even though they are equipped with VVT system monitors. VERACRUZ vehicles began reporting EGR/VVT readiness as "supported" with the 2009MY.

^ Hyundai conducted a field fix on some of the 2007-2008MY vehicles to reprogram the engine control module (ECM), which included the 2009MY software readiness change. Vehicles that received this reprogramming now report the EGR/VVT readiness as being "supported."

NOTE:
Some older scan tools or inspection equipment may list the readiness solely as 'EGR' monitor readiness. It has been renamed to 'EGR/VVT' monitor readiness and reflects the status of EGR monitor(s) and/or VVT monitor(s), whichever is applicable to the vehicle.

SERVICE INFORMATION:

^ State IM programs and inspectors may see a portion of the affected vehicles reporting EGR/VVT readiness as unsupported and reporting supported those that have been reprogrammed. Vehicles may change from reporting unsupported to supported between inspections if they have been reprogrammed.

^ By using the Table shown below, the calibration identification number (CAL ID) can be used to confirm whether the vehicle should report unsupported or supported.
