W/Harness Inspection
Terminal and Connector Inspection
1. Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals.
Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.
2. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.
3. Has a problem been found ?
Power Circuit Inspection
Check for open in harness
1. Ignition "OFF"
2. Disconnect SMARTRA.
3. Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF"
4. Measure voltage value between terminal "4" of SMARTRA and chassis ground.
Specification : 9 - 16V
5. Is the measured voltage within specifications ?
Signal Circuit Inspection
Check for open in harness
1. Ignition "OFF"
2. Disconnect SMARTRA.
3. Measure resistance between terminal "5" of SMARTRA and terminal C30-A-45 (2.7) or C130-A-45 (3.3)
Specification : 1 ohms or less
2.7
3.3
4. Is the measured resistance within specifications ?
Check for short in harness
1. Ignition "OFF"
2. Disconnect SMARTRA.
3. Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF"
4. Measure voltage value between terminal "5" of SMARTRA and chassis ground.
Specification : Approx. 5.48V
5. Is the measured resistance within specifications ?
Ground Circuit inspection
Check for open in ground harness
1. Ignition "OFF"
2. Disconnect SMARTRA.
3. Measure resistance between terminal "3" of SMARTRA and chassis ground.
Specification : 1 ohms or less
4. Is the measured resistance within specifications ?
