P1719 Steering Wheel Angle Sensor N-Input Signal - W/Harness Inspection

Terminal and Connector Inspection

1. Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.
2. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.
3. Has a problem been found?






Steering angle Neutral Signal Inspection

1. IG key "ON', ENGINE "ON".
2. Connect 4WD ECM, Steering angle sensor connector.
3. Monitor signal waveform between center of 4WD ECM harness connector and chassis ground.
4. Turn steering Wheel to the right or left.

Specification : Signal Waveform & Data

5. Is Steering angle Neutral Signal display near the specified value?






Steering angle sensor Reference voltage inspection

1. IG key "ON", ENGINE "OFF".
2. Disconnect Steering angle sensor connector.
3. Measure voltage between Referance 5 V of Steering angle sensor harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : Approx. 5 V

4. Is voltage display near the specified value?






Steering angle sensor ground harness open circuit inspection

1. IG key "OFF", ENGINE "OFF".
2. Connect 4WD ECM and Steering angle sensor connector.
3. Measure resistance between ground of 4WD ECM harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : 1 Ohms below.

4. Is resistance display near the specified value?






Steering angle Neutral Signal, short to signal line ground Inspection

1. IG key 'OFF", ENGINE "OFF".
2. Disconnect 4WD ECM and Steering angle sensor connector.
3. Measure resistance between center of 4WD ECM harness connector and chassis ground

Specification : infinity Ohms

4. Is resistance display near the specified value?






Steering angle Neutral Signal open Inspection

1. IG key 'OFF', ENGINE "OFF".
2. Disconnect 4WD ECM and Steering angle sensor connector.
3. Measure resistance between center of Steering angle sensor harness connector and 4WD ECM harness connector.

Specification : 1 Ohms below.
