Power Window - Noise/Improper Operation
Group: Body ElectricalNumber: 94-90-017
Date: December, 1994
Model:
'92 & '93 Elantra
Subject:
Power Window Motor Breather Hose Adjustment.
Some Elantras produced prior to October 21,1993, may have a mispositioned power window motor breather hose that causes an abnormal noise or improper window operation when the power window switch is activated. This occurs if the open end of the breather hose is lifted slightly because it is pressed against the front door panel assembly. Then, if water enters the hose, it may be drawn into the motor and cause damage and improper operation. To prevent any interference between the door panel and the breather hose, the angle of the breather hose was modified beginning with the October 21, 1993 production.
To correct this condition if it occurs on Elantras produced prior to October 21, 1993, follow the repair procedure below:
1. Record the radio stations and then disconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Remove the door trim panel and drain any water from the breather hose.
Power Window Motor:
3. Turn the breather hose on the power window motor towards the outside of the door by hand (about 45 degrees).
4. Reinstall the door trim.
5. Connect the negative terminal of the battery. Reset radio stations and clock.
