Return Test of Solenoid

The following diagnosis and testing procedure is made after removal.

1. Disconnect connector from M terminal.
2. Connect battery voltage between M terminal and body ground. Perform this test in less than ten seconds to prevent coil from burning.
3. Pull pinion out and release. If pinion quickly returns to its original position, coil is operating.
4. If pinion does not return, replace solenoid.
