DTC 86

Fail-Safe Item 86 is set when diagnostic trouble code 51, 52, 53 or 54 is generated by the transmission control module for the fourth time and indicates the transmission has been locked in third (D) or second (2,L).

DTC 51
Cause
Shifting to first gear does not match engine speed

Remedy
- Check the connector for pulse generator A and B.
- Check pulse generator A and pulse generator B.
- Rear clutch slippage.

DTC 52
Cause
Shifting to second gear does not match engine speed

Remedy
- Check the connector for pulse generator A.
- Check pulse generator A.
- Kickdown brake slippage.


DTC 53
Cause
Shifting to third gear does not match engine speed

Remedy
- Check pulse generator A and pulse generator B connector.
- Check pulse generator A and pulse generator B.
- Check the front clutch slippage.
- Check the rear clutch slippage.


DTC 54
Cause
Shifting to fourth gear does not match engine speed

Remedy
- Check the connector for pulse generator A.
- Check pulse generator A.
- Kickdown brake slippage.
