AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE DIFFERENTIAL ASSEMBLY PROCEDURES
DESCRIPTION:
This bulletin contains the Automatic Transaxle Differential Assembly Procedures to be added to the 1993-1994 Scoupe Shop Manuals. The additions are as follows:
1. Install the differential assembly.
2. Remove old spacer from bearing retainer. Place two pieces of solder, roughly 10 mm (0.4 in.) long and 3 mm (0.12 in.) in diameter, at the position shown on the differential bearing retainer outer race.
3. Install the differential bearing retainer and tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
Standard value: 20-40 N-m (300-400 kg. cm, 22-29 lb.ft.)
4. Remove the differential bearing retainer.
5. Remove the crushed solder from the outer race of the differential bearing.
6. Using a micrometer, measure the thickness of the crushed solder. Select and install a spacer to set the clearance of the differential bearing to the standard value.
Standard: 0.075-0.135 mm (0.003-0.005 in.).
7. Apply ATF to the newly installed O-ring and install the differential bearing retainer. Tighten the bolts to the specified torque as shown in Step 3 above.
8. Install the differential bearing cap.
Tighten the bolts to the specified torque. Standard value: 43-58 lb.ft.
9. Install the differential cover with a new gasket. Tighten bolts to the specified torque. Standard value: 7-9 lb.ft.
