DESCRIPTION
The intake air temperature sensor, located on the volume air flow sensor, is a resistor-based sensor for detecting the intake air temperature.
According to the intake air temperature information from the sensor, the engine control module provides the necessary fuel injection amount control.


TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
The intake air temperature sensor senses the intake air temperature in the air cleaner to indicate a temperature different from outside temperature.

HARNESS INSPECTION PROCEDURE

COMPONENT TEST PROCEDURE

1. Disconnect the volume air flow sensor connectors.





2. Measure resistance between terminals 4 and 6.

Resistance at Temperature
6.0 K ohms at 0°C (32°F)
2.7 K ohms at 20°C (68°F)
0.4 K ohms at 80°C (176°F)






3. Measure resistance while heating the sensor using a hair drier.

As the temperature gets higher the resistance should decrease

4. It the value deviates from the standard value or the resistance remains unchanged, replace the volume air flow sensor assembly.
