Fuel Pressure Release: Service and Repair

FUEL PRESSURE RELEASE PROCEDURE

NOTE: This procedure involves disconnecting the negative battery cable. If it is suspected that diagnostic trouble codes may be present they should be obtained before the battery is disconnected.

1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Disconnect fuel pump electrical connector.
3. Lower vehicle.
4. Start engine and allow to idle.
5. After engine has stopped, turn ignition switch to the Off position, then disconnect battery ground cable.
6. After fuel system repairs are complete, reconnect fuel pump connector.
