Pressure Regulating Solenoid: Service and Repair
Valve Body Components:
NOTE: Servicing of this part requires removal and disassembly of the transaxle valve body.
REMOVE THE VALVE BODY
1. Remove the manual control lever then remove the transaxle range switch.
2. Support and raise vehicle on a hoist.
3. Clean any mud, sand, dirt away from the transaxle oil pan.
4. Remove the transaxle oil pan and gasket, if the pan is stuck to the transaxle tap it lightly with a rubber mallet to break it loose.
5. Remove the oil filter from the valve body.
6. Remove the oil temperature sensor installation bolt; then, after removal from the bracket, pull the sensor out from the connector side.
7. Press the tabs of the solenoid valve harness grommet and then push it into the case and remove.
8. Remove the bolts, then remove the valve body.
REPLACE THE SHIFT CONTROL SOLENOID VALVE
1. Remove the screws attaching the shift control solenoid valve to the valve body.
2. Replace the shift control solenoid valve.
RE-INSTALL THE VALVE BODY
1. Install the valve body into the transaxle case.
2. Install the valve body bolts and torque.
Torque: 4-6 Nm (3-4 ft lb)
3. Place the solenoid valve harness through the transaxle case and press the grommet into place till the tabs lock.
4. Place the oil temperature sensor through the transaxle case and secure to the valve body with it's bolt.
5. Install the oil filter on the valve body.
Torque: 5-7 Nm (4-5 ft lb)
6. Install the transaxle oil pan with a new gasket.
Torque: 10-12 Nm, (7.5-9 ft lb)
7. Lower vehicle. Reinstall transaxle range switch and manual lever.
Torque, Range Switch: 10-12 Nm (7.5-9 ft lb)
Torque, Manual Lever: 17-21Nm (13-15 ft lb)
8. Fill transaxle to proper level and recheck, top fluid off as needed.
