AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE GEAR WHINE FIELD FIX KIT

Some 1993 and 1994 Sonatas equipped with automatic transaxles may exhibit a high pitch whine noise from the transaxle gears. The whine is generally heard between 40 and 70 mph during light acceleration, deceleration or while cruising.

To correct this condition, install the field fix kit noise damper on the Cable Assembly - ATM Lever located at the top rear of the transaxle.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

1. Remove air filter canister and hose from the vehicle.

2. Locate the Cable Assembly - ATM Lever where it passes over the rear of the transaxle.

3. Remove the upper rear transaxle mounting bolt that is closest to the Cable Assembly - ATM Lever.

4. Install bracket to the automatic transaxle with the bolt that was removed in Step 3. Leave the bolt loose enough to adjust the bracket after the cable has been inserted. Remove the four bolts from the block that retains the cable.

5. Feed the cable through the block and reinstall and tighten the four bolts.

6. Tighten the bracket to the automatic transaxle.

7. Reinstall the air filter canister and hose from vehicle.

8. Test drive vehicle.
