A/T - Slipping/Hesitation in 4th Gear

1995 Sonata Transmission End Clutch Slippage.

Some 1995 Sonata V6 ATMs may intermittently exhibit a slight hesitation or slippage feeling when cruising on the highway in 4th gear. A heavy shift shock may be felt at the same time.

If this symptom is confirmed, the dealer is recommended to NOT IMMEDIATELY REPLACE THE ATM ASSEMBLY. Instead, first install a pressure gauge to the end clutch pressure port. The vehicle should then be re-tested to confirm the symptom.

If a pressure drop is observed in conjunction with the symptom, a new End Clutch Assembly should be installed to correct the condition. If no pressure drop occurs, the ATM should then be removed and returned to the Reman Program using normal procedures.
