Door Switch - Interior Lamps Improper Operation

Door Switch Assembly Grounding.

If a 1995 Sonata should experience improper operation of the door lamp, room lamp or the cluster indicator lamp when opening or closing a door, the paint on the side sill may be preventing the grounding of the door switch assembly. To correct this condition, the paint on the side sill must be removed where it contacts with the screw of the door switch assembly screw. Follow the procedure listed below:

1. Record the customer's preset radio stations and then disconnect the negative battery terminal.

2. Unscrew and retighten the mounting screw on the door switch assembly several times.
3. Remove the screw and clean any paint from the screw.
4. Reinstall and tighten the screw.
5. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
6. Inspect the operation of the door lamp switch to ensure that it is working properly.
7. Reset the customer's radio stations.
