Inspection

1. Check gear teeth and timing case for excessive wear or damage.
2. Check clearances as follows:

Fig. 26 Checking Outer Gear To Case Clearance:





a. Check clearance between outer gear circumference and timing case as shown in Fig. 30. Clearance should be 0.0047-0.0071 inch.





b. Check tip clearance on rotor as shown in Fig. 33. Clearance should be 0.001-0.003 inch.





c. Check axial clearance on outer pump rotor as shown in Fig. 34. Clearance should be 0.0016-0.0034 inch.
d. Check for distorted relief valve spring. Free height should be 1.835 inch.
e. If damage or values other than those specified are noted, replace parts as necessary.
