Installation

1. Install flange and crankshaft sprocket. Tighten crankshaft sprocket bolt to specifications
2. Install camshaft sprocket and tighten bolt to specifications. Tighten camshaft sprocket bolt to specifications.
3. Align timing marks of camshaft sprocket and crank shaft sprocket, with No. 1 piston placed at top dead center on its compression stroke.
4. To install timing belt tensioner, first mount tensioner, spring, and spacer. Temporarily tighten bolts. Next, temporarily tighten tensioner long hole side washer and bolts. Install bottom end of spring against front case.
5. Secure tensioner, positioned towards water pump.
6. Install timing belt on crankshaft sprocket.
7. Install timing belt on camshaft sprocket. When timing belt is installed on camshaft sprocket, ensure tension side is tight. Then, check to ensure when tension side is tightened by turning camshaft sprocket in a reverse direction, all timing marks are in line.
8. Loosen tensioner mounting bolts No. 1 and 2 in that order. This will apply spring tension to timing belt only. Check belt to ensure it is not out of position.
9. Tighten tensioner tightening bolts No. 1 and 2 in that order. If bolt No. 1 is tightened first, tensioner will move with belt in direction that belt is tightened.
10. Give crankshaft one turn clockwise and realign crankshaft sprocket timing mark with top dead center position. Do not turn crankshaft in a counterclockwise direction. crankshaft should turn smoothly.
11. Loosen tensioner attaching bolts No. 1 and 2 in that order.
12. Tighten tensioner attaching bolts No. 2 and 1 in that order to specifications.
13. Recheck belt tension. Verify that when tensioner and tension side of timing belt are pushed in horizontally with Approx. 11 lbs. force, the timing belt cog end is approximately half of the tensioner mounting bolt head radius (across flats) away from bolt head center.
14. Install timing belt cover. Tighten timing belt cover bolt to specifications.
15. Install crankshaft pulley. Making sure that crankshaft sprocket pin fits small hole in pulley. Tighten crankshaft pulley bolt to specifications.
16. Install fan belt and adjust belt tension.
17. Install water pump pulley.
18. Install V-belt and adjust belt tension.
