Intake Manifold: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
Refer to the illustration when removing the intake manifold, noting the following information:
a. Disconnect the high pressure fuel hose connection after relieving pressure in the fuel pipe line to prevent fuel overflow.
b. Remove the delivery pipe with the fuel injectors and pressure regulator attached.
CAUTION: Do not drop the injectors when removing the delivery pipe.
INSTALLATION
Installation is the reverse of removal, noting the following information:
a. Do not drop the injector when installing the delivery pipe.
b. Tighten fuel delivery pipe bolt to engine to 10-13 Nm (100-130 kg. cm, 7-9 ft. lbs.).
c. Tighten accelerator cable bolts to intake manifold to 4-6 Nm (40-60 kg. cm, 3-4 ft. lbs.).
d. Tighten throttle body to intake manifold to 15-22 Nm (150-220 kg. cm, 11-16 ft. lbs.).
e. Tighten intake manifold stay bolts to 25-30 Nm (250-300 kg. cm, 18-22 ft. lbs.).
f. Tighten intake manifold mounting bolt (8 mm) to 15-20 Nm (150-200 kg. cm, 11-14 ft. lbs.).
g. Tighten intake manifold mounting nut and bolt to 30-42 Nm (300-420 kg. cm, 22-30 ft. lbs.).
h. Tighten tension rod bracket bolt to tension rod to 35-55 Nm (350-550 kg. cm, 25-40 ft. lbs.).
i. Tighten ignition coil bolts to 20-27 Nm (200-270 kg. cm, 14-20 ft. lbs.).
j. Tighten power transistor bolts to 10-12 Nm (100-120 kg. cm, 7-9 ft. lbs.).
k. Tighten EGR valve bolts to 15-22 Nm (150-220 kg. cm, 11-16 ft. lbs.).
l. Tighten throttle body bolts to 15-22 Nm (150-220 kg. cm, 11-16 ft. lbs.).
