Valve Guide: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
Using the driver tool No. 09222-32200 without stop collar, or equivalent, press out the old valve guide toward the bottom of cylinder head.
INSTALLATION
1. Recondition the valve guide hole so that it matches the new press-fit oversize valve guide as follows:
1st. oversize, marked "5", 0.05 mm (0.002 inch)
Hole size, 13.050-13.068 (0.5140-0.5145)
2nd oversize, marked "25", 0.25 mm (0.010 inch)
Hole size, 13.250-13.268 (0.5217-0.5224)
3rd oversize, marked "50", 0.05 mm (0.020 inch)
Hole size, 13.250-13.268 (0.5217-0.5224)
2. Using the driver tool No. 09222-32200 with the stop collar, or equivalent, press-fit the valve guide.
CAUTION The valve guide must be press-fit from the upper side of the cylinder head.
NOTE: Keep in mind that the valve guides differ in length.
3. After the valve guide is press-fit, insert a new valve and check for proper clearance.
4. After the valve guide has been replaced, check for proper valve face -to-valve seat contact.
NOTE: Do not re-install a valve guide of the same size.
