Valve Guide: Testing and Inspection

1. Check the valve stem-to-guide clearance as shown in the illustration.
2. If the clearance exceeds the service limit, replace the valve guide with the next oversize part.
Valve stem-to-guide clearance:
Standard value:
Intake, 0.030-0.060 mm (0.0012-0.0024 inch)
Exhaust, 0.050-0.090 mm (0.0020-0.0035 inch)
Wear Limit:
Intake, 0.10 mm (0.0039 inch)
Exhaust, 0.15mm (0.0059 inch)
