This bulletin is issued to inform you that automatic transaxle Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) in 1999 2.4 L Sonata EFs, manufactured prior to May 3, 1999, can be retrieved from the ENGINE section of the Hi-Scan Pro not the AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE section as with other vehicles.





If you are diagnosing a driveability complaint on a vehicle equipped with an automatic transaxle, be sure to check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) in both the Engine and the Automatic Transaxle sections of the Hi-Scan Pro. The reason for this is DTCs P1529 and P1624 appear as TCM codes but are in fact ECM communication codes. The TCM does not have the authority to illuminate the MIL, and, therefore, must request that the ECM complete the action.
