Subject
1999 SONATA SIDE AIR BAG ACRONYM CLARIFICATION

DESCRIPTION:

The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) or Air Bag System, as it is most often referred to, has some new acronyms: DSAB (Driver Side Air Bag) and PSAB (Passenger Side Air Bag). Although these acronyms sound like new names for Driver's Air Bag (DAB) and Passenger Air Bag (PAB), they aren't. The new acronyms: DSAB and PSAB refer to the air bags in the driver and passenger SEATS, NOT the air bags on the steering wheel and passenger side crash pad. Refer to the illustration of this TSB for further clarification.

If you are diagnosing a Supplemental Restraint System with the following codes, be certain to note that the codes apply to SIDE air bags (in the seats), not the front air bags.
