Subject
1999 SONATA CLIMATE CONTROL SYSTEM OPERATION
(OWNERS MANUAL CORRECTION)

DESCRIPTION:
The system operation of the DEFROST mode for the 1999 Sonata is included below.

DEFROSTING / DEFOGGING (PAGE 1-57):

When the DEFROST mode is selected, the air conditioning system (and the LED indicator on the "A/C" switch) is switched ON, regardless of whether the "A/C" button is switched ON or OFF (see figure 1). The A/C compressor operates to dehumidify the air and rapidly reduce windshield fogging. The temperature control selector should be set to "warm" to provide warm dehumidified air to the windshield and side window nozzles. For increased dehumidifying action, the "RECIRC" switch can be selected temporarily.

Note 1:
Extended use in the "RECIRC" mode is not recommended.

Note 2:
The 1999 Sonata sold in the U.S. market is only available with the manual air conditioning system. Owners should disregard pages 1-65 through 1-68 of the Owners Manual.

Note 3:
On GLS models selecting defrost also activates the outside mirror defrosters. This feature is not provided on the lower models.
