HYDRAULIC PRESSURE TEST

DESCRIPTION:
This TSB is being issued to add hydraulic pressure test specifications in "psi" to the "kPa" specifications already in the shop manual. The hydraulic pressure test specifications are shown in this TSB.

Please make a note on page AT-20 of the 1999 Sonata Shop Manual Volume 1 to refer to this TSB for hydraulic pressure test specifications in psi.

STANDARD HYDRAULIC PRESSURE TEST:





1. Warm up the engine until the automatic transaxle fluid temperature is 80°-100°C (176°-212°F).





2. Connect the oil pressure gauge, P/N J34405, to the appropriate pressure port.





Pressure Ports:

2ND: Second brake pressure

UD: Underdrive clutch pressure

LR: Low & reverse brake pressure

DR: Torque converter pressure

RV: Reverse clutch pressure

OD: Overdrive clutch pressure

3. Drive the vehicle under the driving conditions shown in the table below while an assistant records the hydraulic pressure.

4. If the value is outside the standard range, refer to the Diagnosis Table on pages AT-21 and AT-22 of the 1999 Sonata Shop Manual for repair guidance.
