When installing a Door Wiring Connector Kit in affected 2001 MY Elantra XDS, as outlined in TSB 01-90-004 ("Body Seam Sealing & "A" Pillar Connector Inspection (Field Fix)", dated March 23, 2001), you may encounter one of two different wire colour combinations in the 13-pin and 21-pin connectors (MD-01/03, MD-02/04) in the vehicle's LH and RH Floor Harnesses compared to that of the Door Wiring Connector Kit.

Later production Elantras will match the Connector Kit with good accuracy, but the closer the vehicle's production date is to Job # 1, the greater the chance that the wire colours will not match with 100% accuracy. The exact change-over date cannot be pinpointed, but the range lies within vehicle production dates of October and November 2000.

To help alleviate the confusion, when splicing in the new wires from the Connector Kit, we recommend that only one wire be repaired at a time while paying close attention to the pin number and its location in relation to the original connector. If the wire colour of the Connector Kit is different than the wire in the harness, be sure that the wire came from the matching pin number and then proceed.
