PROGRAMMING KEYLESS ENTRY
REMOTE KEYCHAINS
This bulletin is issued to provide you with a quick procedure to program new Keyless Entry Remote Keychains for the XG300.
The 2001 MY XG300 Shop Manual explains a procedure that requires you to access the ETACM to move a switch to the "SET" position when programming new remotes But the location of the ETACM in the XG300 is very difficult to reach, and you cannot see the "OFF/SET" switch.
The Keyless Entry in the XG300 uses a ground communication type system that is controlled by the Electronic Time & Alarm Control Module (ETACM) The ETACM, powered at all times, provides the ability to access the Code Save function through the Multipurpose Check Connector (M04) located beside the Data Link Connector (This is the same connector used when reprogramming ECMs with the Hi-Scan Pro.)
To program a new remote:
1. Access the Multipurpose Check Connector (M04).
Use a jumper wire to connect terminal # 4 (Code Save) to terminal # 10 (ground), or to a suitable chassis ground point
By grounding the system, the Code Save function is enabled just as if the switch was moved to the "SET" position on the ETACM.
2. With the system grounded, press either the LOCK or UNLOCK buttons on both remotes, then disconnect the jumper wire. Test the operation of both remotes.
Note:
Two remotes must be programmed at the same time. If only the new one is programmed, any existing pre-programmed remote will be erased.
