2001 XG300 PCM REPROGRAMMING FOR P0128, 2-3 SHIFT LOGIC AND OTHER ISSUES

This TSB supersedes TSB # 01-36-007 to correct warranty claim submission information.

DESCRIPTION:

This bulletin provides a procedure to reprogram the PCM (combined ECM/TCM in XG300 vehicles) using a Hi-Scan Pro.

NOTE:
The XG300 has an integrated Engine Control Module (ECM) and Transaxle Control Module (TCM), which is sometimes referred to as a Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Therefore, reprogramming of the ECM and TCM logic can be performed at the same time.

The XG300 reprogramming includes the following improvements:

^ P0128 thermostat warning lamp illumination revised diagnosis condition.

^ 2-3 shift logic revised.

^ Stumbling over 4000 rpm in "Sports" shift mode improved.

ECM/TCM SPECIFICATIONS

CAUTION:
Before conducting reprogramming

^ Conduct reprogramming with the ignition key in the "ON" position.

^ Be careful not to disconnect any cables connected to the vehicle and Hi-Scan during reprogramming.

^ Do not start the engine during reprogramming.

^ Do not turn the ignition key off during reprogramming.

WARNING:
If reprogramming is interrupted, the manual update procedure must be used.

^ 8 Pin red connector

^ 10 Pin red connector

^ 2 Pin white connector

^ 8 Pin white connector

^ 10 Pin white connector

^ 16 MB Re-programming Card (yellow label)

NOTE:
Discard the white connector set that was included in the original Hi-Scan kit. The original white connectors have three wire terminals.
