DESCRIPTION:
Motion of the side impact air bag wiring harness and connector may result in illumination of the air bag warning light and one or both diagnostic codes listed below:
^ B1378: Driver side air bag (DSAB) resistance high.
^ B1382: Passenger side air bag (PSAB) resistance high.
This campaign provides a new side impact air bag wiring harness connector mounting procedure.
VEHICLES AFFECTED:
^ Model: 2001 XG300 vehicles
^ Production date range: Produced through July 23, 2001.
^ VIN range: Produced through KMHFU41D31A146157
SPECIAL NOTES:
^ The service procedure to be followed depends on whether the vehicle is equipped with the Integrated Memory System (IMS). Only XG300L models have IMS, and it is standard equipment on the XG300L. If the vehicle does have IMS, you will need to know the production date to determine which procedure to use for the driver's seat, and which repair kit part number to order.
^ For XG300 vehicles NOT equipped with IMS), order service kit part number 88010-38B00. (If the vehicle has the memory switches on the driver's door, it has IMS, if it does not have the switches, it does not). See the driver's seat procedure, and the passenger seat procedure.
^ For XG300 L vehicles (equipped with IMS) produced on or before March 30, 2001, order service kit part number 88010-38C00. See the driver's seat procedure, and the passenger seat procedure.
^ For X0300 L vehicles (equipped with IMS) produced on or after March 31, 2001, order service kit part number 88010-38B00. See the driver's seat procedure, and the passenger seat procedure.
