TCM Reprogramming Procedure
NOTE:Verify that the vehicle is affected by identifying the vehicle production date and VIN.
1. Remove any software cards from the Hi-Scan Pro and insert reprogramming card into the Hi-Scan Pro top slot. (Version 12-18-01)
2. Connect the reprogramming adapter to the Hi-Scan Pro.
3. Connect the red 10 pin connector to the reprogramming adapter.
4. Connect power to the Hi-Scan Pro from the cigarette power adapter.
5. Insert the power cable from the reprogramming adapter into the cigarette power adapter.
6. Connect the cigarette power adapter into the vehicle cigarette power socket.
7. Connect the red 10 pin connector to the connector next to the DLC (Data Link Connector) connector.
8. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
9. Turn the Hi-Scan Pro ON.
10. Select option "17. XG 3.0 AT 3-4 SHIFT SHUDDER" and press ENTER.
11. Select option "01. XG 3.0 AT SHIFT SHUDDER [AUTO]" and press ENTER.
12. Enter "1229" as the password for the automatic update mode and press ENTER.
13. The Hi-Scan Pro will establish communication.
14. The Hi-Scan Pro detects the current ECM and TCM IDs, then displays them for about 1 second.
15. The Hi-Scan Pro will download the new ECM and TCM programs at the same time.
NOTE:
If the Hi-Scan Pro does not download the program, use the Manual Update Procedure following this section.
WARNING:
Do not interrupt the reprogramming at any time. The ECM and TCM may be rendered inoperative if the program does not download completely.
16. When the "REPROGRAMMING COMPLETED!" message is displayed, the ECM and TCM reprogramming process is complete.
NOTE:
Check the new ECM and TCM IDs displayed on the screen with the ECM/TCM specifications shown in this TSB to verify that the correct program has been downloaded.
17. When the reprogramming is completed successfully, turn the ignition to the OFF position for 20 seconds and then start the engine to check for proper operation.
